Sugar cane fields near Bacolod

Large trucks are loaded to capacity and over to haul the sugar cane to the mill for processing.  In one of the loading yards there were over 50 large semi trucks loaded and waiting to head for the mill.  Most of the trucks are very old and as a result there are always trucks broken down on the road every few miles we would see one pulled off for repairs.  60 percent of the sugar produced in the Philippines goes to the United States. 

 The sugar cane is cut by men with machet knives with a hook on the end.

 Carabao are used to pull the wagons from the field to the road where the sugar cane is loaded on trucks -dump truck size- that take the sugar cane to theloading area where it is loaded onto large semi trucks  to be taken to the mill.
